Blood Pressure Assessments

Did you know just like humans cats can suffer with high blood pressure (also known as hypertension).  There are often no visible signs but left untreated it can damage organs such as the heart and kidneys and can even cause blindness. Fortunately, high blood pressure can be easily detected and treated.

High blood pressure is more common in older cats and with certain conditions like kidney failure, overactive thyroid and heart disease. We recommend cats with these conditions have their blood pressure checked and also all cats over 7 every year.

The nurses at Brookend can measure your cat's blood pressure. It is a quick and painless procedure and does not require any sedation, you can even stay with you cat whilst it is done.

If your cat is particularly stressed when coming to the vets, then we would recommend coming to our Cat Friendly Clinic  on Tuesday morning for a much quieter and calming environment to make your feline friend more relaxed.
