Brookend has been caring for the pets of Witham and the surrounding area since 1990. We pride ourselves on being a small friendly practice with many long standing staff, several have been here since the very beginning. We feel it is very important you can see the same people and build a real relationship with them.
Our main aim is to keep your animal friends and companions as healthy as possible.
Alison Ewbank purchased a branch of a large group practice called the Waters Partnership and renamed the surgery Brookend Veterinary Surgery after her first dog "Pippin of Brookend" - a border terrier from the famous Brookend border kennels in Chelmsford.
Our surgery has grown enormously since 1990 when there was a staff of one vet, one nurse and two receptionists, to a situation where it employs four vets, seven nurses, four receptionists and a practice manager.
To cope with this expansion the surgery moved in July 2003 from its previous site near Witham train station to its current site at 62 Braintree Road. The premises were converted to give a bright, air-conditioned, modern and spacious surgery, with a large car park to the rear.
In 2009 Mike Probert, who has been with the surgery since 1997, became a partner with Alison. Following Alison’s retirement in 2014 Mike took sole charge of the Practice.
